Kieran Meadows Design

Kieran Meadows is a freelance 3D artist, Prop/Model maker and Animatronic puppet designer working on small to large productions within the creative, media and film industries. With now almost a decade independent experience, he has created an impressive portfolio of skills and techniques that translate to a wide variety of creative projects. Kieran is able to add insight & advice from initial concepts to 3D CAD, all the way to manufacturing and assembly; achieving the highest standard of quality while keeping an enjoyable working environment.

Animatronic Design

Animatronics

In 2019 Kieran began his quest to learn how to professionally design and build animatronic characters. While working full-time he dedicated his evenings and weekends to this pursuit until in 2022 he was headhunted & employed at Pinewood Studios working on major Film and TV productions as an animatronic designer.

Over the past four years Kieran has created an array of practical effects and continues to develop new skills and technologies to continue bringing fantasy characters, aliens and all manner of creatures to life!

3D Design & 3D Printing

Kieran has been using CAD programs for almost a decade and as a result of learning Fusion360, AutoCAD, Solidworks, Blender, Sketchup, Zbrush and more; it only took a few years until he was employed at a creative agency in Essex as a 3D Designer.

He began working on new and interesting projects that continuously pushed the envelope of his skill set and further ignited Kieran's desire to become more proficient which then lead him to bigger and more involved projects where his 3D Design skills excelled.

CNC / CAM

Over the years the types of projects Kieran took on became more complex and as he ventured further into mechanical design & animatronics it wasn't long before he learned how to operate CNC machines to produce precision parts and components.

This enables Kieran to professionally and safely operate CNC mills, lathes, grinders & routers; including loading materials, setting up tools, controlling tool paths, speeds, and operations.

Prosthetic Make up Effects

Kieran has been 'dabbling' in special make up effects on and off since 2011. He has made many silicone prosthetic pieces & latex masks over the years. In October 2014 Kieran was commissioned to create a professional silicone mask & suit of armour to promote the release of Warner Bros 'Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor' video game. The project was commissioned by Premier Communications on behalf of Warner Bros who wanted some Orcs to show up in some key spots in London and do some interviews with game companies and media outlets.

Art & Design

Art has always played a major role in Kieran's life and he has been drawing & painting since his childhood. In 2015 Kieran was commissioned to illustrate a book cover titled 'Bad Dreams' - Ernest Burden. This is a series of wonderfully written sci-fi & horror stories from the mind of an eighty-something year old man.
